Google can now guess release dates

Posted: 23 Mar 2011 12:52 AM PDT

We use Google every day to find all sorts of information, therefore, folks from Google are doing their best to enhance their number one search engine. Google has released another enhancement that will allow you to find release dates easier than before.

In order to search the release date of a particular game or a movie, you just need to type the name of the game or movie along with "release date" and Google will show you the release date of that particular item at the top of your results, so you won't have to visit any sites to get additional info. Of course, if you want to verify this information on your own, Google will inform you on how many sites this particular release date is mentioned, and it can even show you sources and direct links to these sites so you can visit them and read additional info on your own.

Although release date guessing isn't anything spectacular, it can make our lives and searches a bit easier, and currently it only works with movies and video games, unfortunately not for predicting when iPhones or iPads may arrive.

Call of Duty: Black Ops is the best selling game in US of all time

Posted: 22 Mar 2011 01:33 PM PDT

Call of Duty series has been popular since its first game, and speaking of Call of Duty games, it seems that the latest game from Call of Duty series has now achieved one amazing milestone.

Call of Duty: Black Ops might be a highly controversial game due to its terrorist related content, but it's also the best-selling game in the United States according to the National Purchase Diary. In just five months, Activision has managed to sell 13.7 million copies of Black Ops across all platforms. That's a huge success for Activision and the Call of Duty franchise, but it seems that critics aren't pleased with Activision's tactics saying that Activision focuses on annual releases of their best selling franchises. According to the critics, annual releases might become boring to the fans, but 13.7 million sold copies say otherwise.

AT&T is buying T-Mobile to become the biggest carrier in the US

Posted: 22 Mar 2011 12:36 PM PDT

Finally the big Telecom giant, AT&T has officially announced to buy T-Mobile USA for $39 billion. This step will add nearly 33 million customers to AT&T in one swoop. So, the combined AT&T subscribers will become 129 million.

T-Mobile, though only a 4th place carrier, has done a lot of good things because of their back of the pack standing. Remember, they were the first carrier to introduce Android to the masses in the T-Mobile G1 (AT&T was the last). As both AT&T and T mobile are using GSM as their basic network, so the network consolidation should be relatively easy and transparent to T-Mobile users. Deutsche Telecom, the parent company will have an 8% stake in AT&T – if the deal is approved by the government. The advantage for T-Mobile users is that now they will be able to access the iPhone and AT&T's 4G LTE network. The disadvantage is that T-Mobile will not be able to get the unlock code that T-Mobile was giving away on request. AT&T has always been too strict with its policies.
